Make-A-Wish is a non-profit organization that creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Make-A-Wish, with the help of the community, grants more than 100 wishes each year in the local region. Wishes vary based on the child’s dreams and aspirations, but typically fall into categories like I wish to be, I wish to have, I wish to go, I wish meet, I wish to give back.
Recently, Meyer’s RV Superstores had the honor to partner with the local Make-A-Wish organization to grant two wishes for two wish children diagnosed with a critical illness. Their granted wishes will open new possibilities and memories for the rest of their lives.
Meet Natalie, she is turning 5 in August and has uncontrolled seizures, which is why she qualifies for Make-A-Wish. Her dad, Sean helped Natalie decide her wish because he wants her to travel and have adventures, like any other child. Natalie thrives in an environment that is familiar to her, as she is non-verbal and wheelchair bound. Sean was very happy that her camper will allow her to have all of her favorite items in a familiar space. A space that she can call her own!
Sean said he’s not sure where he will take Natalie first, but now thanks to their new camper, the possibilities are endless!
Meet Sarah, she is 7 years old and has a genetic disorder, which qualifies her for Make-A-Wish. She is nonverbal, but certainly expresses her excitement, especially after seeing her new camper! When she was born, she was diagnosed with multiple critical medical challenges. Her new camper will allow her to make memories while doing the activity she enjoys best, camping with her big brother!
Sarah also loves the Disney princess Moana, so as a part of her granted wish the princess came all the way from her island to surprise Sarah at her camper! Sarah was able to show Moana her new home away from home, they also painted nails, sang songs together and Sarah was even crowned princess for the day – how sweet!
Sarah and her family will take their first camping trip to Jelly Stone National Park! From there they will take new adventures and make new memories to last a life time!
Thanks to the help of Make-A-Wish, these families will be on the road to fun and adventure and also be able to have healing moments of joy for years to come.
